1,500 Volunteering Teaching Vacancies for Tanzania Secondary schools


ANNOUNCEMENT OF VOLUNTEER TEACHING POSITIONS IN SECONDARY SCHOOLS UNDER THE EDUCATION SECTOR THROUGH THE GPE – TSP PROJECT

The Prime Minister’s Office – Regional Administration and Local Government (PMO – TAMISEMI), through the Global Partnership for Education Teacher Support Programme (GPE – TSP), is implementing various initiatives, including coordinating the engagement of Volunteer Teachers.

Through this project, PMO – TAMISEMI announces 1,500 volunteer teaching positions in secondary schools under Local Government Authorities with the greatest need, in accordance with the Secondary Teacher Allocation Protocol (S–TAP).

PMO – TAMISEMI, through the GPE – TSP project, invites qualified Tanzanians to submit applications for the 1,500 volunteer teaching positions as detailed in this announcement. These positions are targeted for teachers in:

  • Science and Technology subjects (STEM)

  • Vocational/Practical subjects

  • Business Studies


General Duties, Qualifications, and Number of Volunteer Teaching Positions

1.0 General Duties of Volunteer Teachers

i. Prepare work plans, lesson plans, teaching notes, and schedules for other assigned responsibilities;
ii. Develop and organize teaching and learning materials;
iii. Teach, assess, and maintain records of students’ academic progress;
iv. Supervise and monitor students’ attendance at school and in class;
v. Guide students’ intellectual, physical, and spiritual development and provide counseling;
vi. Provide professional advice on educational development;
vii. Manage and maintain school property and resources;
viii. Perform other duties assigned by the Headteacher according to school requirements.


1.1 Qualifications for Volunteer Physics Teachers – 504 Positions

i. Bachelor’s degree in Education (B.Ed.) with Physics teaching specialization from a recognized university; or
ii. Non-education bachelor’s degree with Physics teaching subject plus a Postgraduate Diploma in Education from a recognized university; or
iii. Teaching diploma with Physics specialization from a recognized teacher training institution.

1.2 Qualifications for Volunteer Chemistry Teachers – 246 Positions

i. Bachelor’s degree in Education (B.Ed.) with Chemistry teaching specialization from a recognized university; or
ii. Non-education bachelor’s degree with Chemistry teaching subject plus a Postgraduate Diploma in Education; or
iii. Teaching diploma with Chemistry specialization from a recognized institution.

1.3 Qualifications for Volunteer Biology Teachers – 332 Positions

i. Bachelor’s degree in Education (B.Ed.) with Biology teaching specialization; or
ii. Non-education bachelor’s degree with Biology teaching subject plus a Postgraduate Diploma in Education; or
iii. Teaching diploma with Biology specialization from a recognized institution.

1.4 Qualifications for Volunteer Mathematics Teachers – 418 Positions

i. Bachelor’s degree in Education (B.Ed.) with Mathematics teaching specialization; or
ii. Non-education bachelor’s degree with Mathematics teaching subject plus a Postgraduate Diploma in Education; or
iii. Teaching diploma with Mathematics specialization from a recognized institution.


1.5 General Requirements for Applicants

i. Must be a Tanzanian citizen with a National ID (NIDA) and under 43 years of age;
ii. Must provide certified copies of birth certificate, educational certificates, and professional qualifications;
iii. Must be willing to work in secondary schools with the greatest need for teachers;
iv. Must not be employed by the government or any other institution;
v. Must not have been dismissed or retired from public service due to misconduct;
vi. Must submit all required documents;
vii. Applicants who studied secondary education abroad must obtain a Tanzania Equivalent Certificate (EQ…) from the National Examinations Council of Tanzania (NECTA).
